Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

Educational Q&A

The verse affirms a dharmic ideal: true continuity of a family is secured not merely by power or wealth but by association with sages and by producing descendants devoted to sacred learning—here symbolized by a son who becomes a distinguished brāhmaṇa and a sūtra-composer who preserves and systematizes dharma.

Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) pronounces a benediction to the addressed person: their lineage will remain enduring and honored by great seers, and their son is foretold to become an eminent brāhmaṇa and an author of sūtras, indicating future spiritual and intellectual distinction.
