Bhīṣma uvāca: ahiṃsālakṣaṇo dharma iti dharmavido viduḥ | yad ahiṃsātmakam karma tat kuryād ātmavān naraḥ ||

Bhīṣma nói: “Những ai thật sự hiểu dharma đều biết rằng ahimsa—bất bạo lực—là dấu hiệu cốt lõi của dharma. Vì thế, người tự chế và có lương tri chỉ nên làm những việc đặt nền trên bất bạo lực.”
