Ahiṃsā as Threefold Restraint (Mind–Speech–Action) and the Ethics of Consumption

उपस्थिते विवाहे तु यज्ञे दानेडपि वा विभो | मोहात्‌ करोति यो विघ्नं॑ स मृतो जायते कृमि:,प्रभो! जो विवाह, यज्ञ अथवा दानका अवसर आनेपर मोहवश उसमें विघ्न डालता है, वह भी मरनेके बाद कीड़ा ही होता है

upasthite vivāhe tu yajñe dāne ’pi vā vibho | mohāt karoti yo vighnaṃ sa mṛto jāyate kṛmiḥ ||

Hỡi bậc hùng lực, khi đến dịp hôn lễ, tế lễ (yajña) hay bố thí, kẻ nào vì mê muội mà gây cản trở, sau khi chết cũng sẽ tái sinh làm giun.
