मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
varṣāsu varṣatastāvan nivasaty amaraprabhaḥ |
Bhishma nói: Chừng nào mưa mùa mưa còn trút xuống, thì đúng chừng ấy—tính thành số năm bằng đúng số giọt mưa rơi từ trời xuống đất trong mùa gió mùa—người ấy, rực sáng như thần, cư ngụ nơi Phạm Thiên giới (Brahmaloka).
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that righteous conduct yields proportionate, unimaginably vast results: merit can translate into extended residence in higher realms, expressed through a vivid natural measure (raindrops in the monsoon) to convey the magnitude of karmic reward.
In Bhishma’s instruction to Yudhishthira in the Anushasana Parva, he describes the fruits of a particular meritorious act (contextually, a dharmic observance or gift), stating that the virtuous, radiant person attains Brahmaloka and remains there for an immense duration likened to years counted by monsoon raindrops.
