अशिष्टानां नियन्ता हि शिष्टानां परिरक्षिता । स्थाने रोष: प्रयुक्त: स्यान्नूपै: सर्वजिगीषुभि:

aurva uvāca |

aśiṣṭānāṁ niyantā hi śiṣṭānāṁ parirakṣitā |

sthāne roṣaḥ prayuktaḥ syān nṛpaiḥ sarvajigīṣubhiḥ ||

na hi taṁ vārayāmāsa vasiṣṭho rakṣasāṁ vadhāt |

dvitīyām asya mā bhāḍukṣa pratijñām iti niścayāt ||

Ūrva nói: “Cơn thịnh nộ, khi được vận dụng đúng lúc—nhất là đối với các bậc quân vương khát khao chinh phục muôn loài—sẽ trở thành dây cương chế ngự kẻ ngỗ nghịch và là tấm khiên bảo hộ người có kỷ cương, người chính trực.” Vì thế Vasiṣṭha đã không ngăn ông khỏi việc giết các rākṣasa, bởi đã quyết rằng: “Chớ để ta làm cho lời thệ nguyện thứ hai của ông bị phá vỡ.”
