वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights household dharma expressed through orderly hospitality: guests may enjoy food and freedom, yet social propriety is maintained by formally taking leave of the hostess and returning home at an appropriate time.
After a charitable meal hosted by Kuntī (here called Mādhavī), the attending women, having eaten, drunk, and enjoyed themselves, respectfully seek her permission and then depart at night to their respective homes.
