कन्यापितृत्वात् किंचित् तु वक्ष्यामि त्वां नराधिप । बलवत्सपत्नतामत्र दोष पश्यामि केवलम्,महान् कीर्तिवाले राजर्षि शान्तनु सत्यवतीको पहले भी बहुत आग्रहपूर्वक माँग चुके हैं; किंतु उनके माँगनेपर भी मैंने उनकी बात अस्वीकार कर दी थी। युवराज! मैं कन्याका पिता होनेके कारण कुछ आपसे भी कहूँगा ही। आपके यहाँ जो सम्बन्ध हो रहा है, उसमें मुझे केवल एक दोष दिखायी देता है, बलवानके साथ शत्रुता
kanyāpitṛtvāt kiñcit tu vakṣyāmi tvāṃ narādhipa | balavat-sapatnatām atra doṣaṃ paśyāmi kevalam ||
Dāśa nói: “Vì ta là cha của thiếu nữ, hỡi chúa tể loài người, ta xin nói thêm đôi lời. Trong cuộc hôn phối dự định này, ta chỉ thấy một lỗi: nó sẽ gây nên một mối thù hùng mạnh—đối địch với kẻ cường thịnh.”
