अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope

यक्षा: साध्या: पिशाचाश्च गुह्मका: पितरस्तथा । ततः प्रसूता विद्वांस: शिष्टा ब्रद्यूर्षिसत्तमा:,तदनन्तर यक्ष, साध्य, पिशाच, गुहाक और पितर एवं तत्त्वज्ञानी सदाचारपरायण साधुशिरोमणि ब्रह्मर्षिगण प्रकट हुए

yakṣāḥ sādhyāḥ piśācāś ca guhyakāḥ pitaras tathā | tataḥ prasūtā vidvāṁsaḥ śiṣṭā brahmarṣisattamāḥ ||

Kế đó sinh ra các Yakṣa, các Sādhya và các Piśāca; cũng vậy, các Guhyaka và các Pitṛs. Sau họ xuất hiện những bậc trí giả—tinh luyện, có kỷ cương trong chánh hạnh (śiṣṭācāra)—là hàng Brahmarṣi tối thượng. Đoạn này đặt sự xuất hiện của nhiều loại hữu tình trong một phả hệ vũ trụ, ngầm tôn vinh tri thức (vidyā) và sự tinh nghiêm đạo hạnh như dấu ấn của bậc hiền thánh cao nhất.
