Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It frames the liṅga not merely as an outer emblem but as a subtle indicator of Pati—Shiva as the all-pervading awareness—recognizable through the refinement from gross sound to its tanmātra, guiding worship from form to inner realization.
Shiva-tattva is implied as sarvavyāpin (all-pervading) and sākṣin (inner witness): present in every prāṇin, revealing itself through the subtle “mark” behind sensory functions, while remaining distinct from pashu (the bound soul) and pasha (bondage).
A yogic interiorization aligned with Pāśupata discipline: withdrawing attention from external sounds to the śabda-tanmātra and then to the liṅga as the subtle sign of consciousness, supporting dhyāna during liṅga-pūjā.
