Adhyaya 8: Yogasthanas, Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama-Siddhi, and Shiva-Dhyana leading to Samadhi

नीचो द्वादशमात्रस्तु उद्धातो द्वादशः स्मृतः मध्यमस् तु द्विरुद्धातश् चतुर्विंशतिमात्रकः

nīco dvādaśamātrastu uddhāto dvādaśaḥ smṛtaḥ madhyamas tu dviruddhātaś caturviṃśatimātrakaḥ

Linga loại “thấp” (ngắn) dài mười hai mātrā; loại “nâng” (cao) cũng được ghi nhớ là mười hai. Còn loại “trung” thì gấp đôi mức nâng, tức hai mươi bốn mātrā, thích hợp cho sự thờ phụng nghiêm chỉnh, khiến paśu (linh hồn bị trói buộc) được an định và hướng về Pati (Śiva).
