Suta Goswami (narrating a received hymn within the Adhyaya)
It functions as a namaskāra-mantra praising Śiva as the sin-destroying Pati; such stuti is used to purify the worshipper before (and during) liṅga-pūjā, aligning the paśu toward Śiva’s grace.
Śiva-tattva is shown as both Rudra (the fierce purifier) and Śiva/Saumya (the auspicious, gracious Lord), indicating one Supreme Pati who removes pāpa and loosens pāśa to liberate the paśu.
Japa and stuti (repetition of divine names with namas) as a purificatory limb of pūjā and a Pāśupata-oriented inner discipline—turning the mind from bondage to surrender at the feet of Pati.
