Đồng hành cùng tám phương tiện tu trì—khởi đầu bằng prāṇāyāma—họ tiến bước vững chãi trên đạo Pāśupata hướng về Pati (Śiva), Đấng giải thoát paśu (linh hồn bị trói) khỏi pāśa (xiềng xích).

It links outer devotion to Śiva with inner discipline: prāṇāyāma and allied sādhana purify the paśu (individual soul) so Linga-upāsanā becomes a direct means toward Pati (Śiva).
Śiva is implied as Pati—the Lord who is approached through disciplined practice—granting release from pāśa (bondage) when the seeker becomes fit through yogic means.
Prāṇāyāma is explicitly highlighted as the opening limb within an eightfold set of disciplines (aṣṭa-sādhana), characteristic of Pāśupata-oriented yogic training.
