It frames the pre-creation condition as avyakṛta (undifferentiated) and tamas-covered, implying that the Linga points to Shiva as Pati—the transcendent ground that remains when worldly distinctions dissolve.
By describing dissolution into the unmanifest and the loss of distinctions, the verse indirectly indicates Shiva-tattva as that which is prior to vishesha (differentiation) and untouched by pralaya—Pati beyond pasha-bound manifestation.
The takeaway aligns with Pashupata Yoga: withdrawing from tamas and vishesha-driven identification, contemplating the unmanifest source and Shiva as the steady Pati through cycles of srishti and pralaya.
