सूर्यरथनिर्णयः (चन्द्रस्य पक्षवृद्धिक्षयविधानम्)

वृद्धिक्षयौ वै पक्षादौ षोडश्यां शशिनः स्मृतौ एवं सूर्यनिमित्तैषा पक्षवृद्धिर्निशाकरे

Transliteration

vṛddhikṣayau vai pakṣādau ṣoḍaśyāṃ śaśinaḥ smṛtau evaṃ sūryanimittaiṣā pakṣavṛddhirniśākare

Translation

Sự tăng và giảm được nói là xảy ra vào đầu mỗi nửa tháng và vào tithi thứ mười sáu của Mặt Trăng. Như vậy, do Mặt Trời làm nhân duyên quyết định, sự tăng trưởng của nửa tháng này được thiết lập nơi Đấng tạo đêm—tức Mặt Trăng.
