Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga Purana to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It functions as sacred remembrance (smṛti) of named beings connected with ritual order and Shiva’s sphere; such recitation supports Linga-pūjā by aligning the worshipper (paśu) with the Lord’s (pati) auspicious retinue and yajñic sanctity.
Indirectly: by listing world-renowned leaders and yajña-associated figures under the Purana’s narration, it reflects Shiva-tattva as the all-supporting principle in which social order (grāmaṇya) and sacrificial power (yajña) are integrated and upheld.
Nāma-smaraṇa (recollective recitation of sacred names) as an aid to purification; in a Shaiva frame, it steadies the mind for Pāśupata discipline by reducing pasha (bondage) through focused remembrance.
