Suta Goswami (narrating the Shaiva cosmological teaching to the Sages of Naimisharanya)
It establishes Shiva (the Linga’s referent) as the imperishable causal ground— the single Light from which all creative “seeds” arise—so Linga worship is directed to the ultimate Pati beyond changing forms.
Shiva-tattva is presented as avyaya (unchanging), purāṇa-puruṣa (primordial Lord), and prakāśa (self-luminous consciousness): the one Light that empowers every bīja (causal principle) while remaining transcendent.
The verse points to a Pashupata-oriented contemplation: meditating on Shiva as the single jyotis (inner Light) behind all causes—supporting japa, dhyāna, and Linga-upāsanā focused on realizing Pati and loosening pasha (bondage).
