और्ध्वदेहिकविधिकर्मविपाकयोर्वर्णनं नाम द्वितीयो ऽध्यायः सूत उवाच / एवमुत्साहितः पक्षी स्वरूपं निरयस्य तु / पप्रच्छनरकाण्येवं श्रुत्वा चोत्कूलितान्तरः
aurdhvadehikavidhikarmavipākayorvarṇanaṃ nāma dvitīyo 'dhyāyaḥ sūta uvāca / evamutsāhitaḥ pakṣī svarūpaṃ nirayasya tu / papracchanarakāṇyevaṃ śrutvā cotkūlitāntaraḥ
“(Đây là) chương mang tên ‘Mô tả các nghi lễ sau hỏa táng và sự chín muồi của nghiệp.’ Sūta nói: Được khích lệ như vậy, Chim (Garuḍa), sau khi nghe theo cách ấy, lòng dậy sóng, liền hỏi về bản tánh của Naraka (địa ngục) và về các địa ngục khác nhau.”
