Sapindīkaraṇa: Timing, Eligibility, Gotra Rules, and Yearlong Śrāddha

with Vṛṣotsarga and Ghaṭa-dāna

अनुत्पन्नशरीरस्य न दानं पितृभिः सह / एतैः षोडशभिः श्राद्धैः प्रेतो मुक्तस्तु जायते

anutpannaśarīrasya na dānaṃ pitṛbhiḥ saha / etaiḥ ṣoḍaśabhiḥ śrāddhaiḥ preto muktastu jāyate

Với kẻ ở trạng thái preta mà thân chưa thành hình, không nên dâng cúng chung với lễ dành cho Pitṛ (tổ tiên). Nhưng nhờ mười sáu nghi lễ śrāddha này, preta ấy quả thật được giải thoát khỏi cảnh preta.
