प्रेतपिण्डं प्रदद्याच्च दाहार्तिशमनं खग / तावद्भूताः प्रतीक्षन्ते तं प्रेतं बान्धवार्थिनम्

pretapiṇḍaṃ pradadyācca dāhārtiśamanaṃ khaga / tāvadbhūtāḥ pratīkṣante taṃ pretaṃ bāndhavārthinam

Hỡi Khaga (Garuda), nên dâng cúng preta-piṇḍa để làm dịu nỗi khổ đau như lửa đốt của hương linh. Cho đến khi việc ấy được làm, các bhūta vẫn chờ đợi preta ấy, kẻ khát mong sự trợ giúp và nương tựa từ thân quyến.
