Vṛṣotsarga as Prerequisite for Śrāddha: Eligibility, Timing, Purification, and the Urgency of Dharma

Dù sinh làm sâu, côn trùng hay bướm đêm, vẫn sinh rồi tử, lặp đi lặp lại. Dẫu thọ sinh từ thai bất tịnh (phi chánh), vừa sinh ra cũng chóng hoại diệt.
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Due to karmic causes, one may be born as lowly creatures and die repeatedly; even births from ‘asat-garbha’ (impure/unrighteous womb/conditions) are unstable and quickly perish—highlighting samsara’s insecurity.
Vedantic Theme: Anityatva (impermanence) and samsara-duhkha; impetus toward vairagya and higher pursuit beyond repeated birth-death.
Application: Cultivate ethical conduct to avoid degrading rebirths; develop detachment and seek stable spiritual aims rather than relying on worldly continuity.
Primary Rasa: bibhatsa
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: repeated emphasis on samsaric wandering through yonis due to karma; exhortation toward dharma and devotion to avoid lower births (general parallel).
This verse emphasizes the repetitive cycle of birth and death—even in low forms like worms and insects—highlighting saṁsāra as a consequence of karma and a condition to transcend through dharma and right living.
It points to karma-driven continuity: after death the jīva can re-enter embodiment repeatedly, including lower births, showing that post-death destiny is shaped by moral and ritual conduct.
Cultivate ethical conduct and self-discipline, avoid harmful actions that degrade consciousness, and live with awareness of impermanence so one’s choices support higher rebirth and liberation-oriented values.
