Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Proper worship requires fitting upacāras (seat, requisites) and mantra-specific performance for each deity.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara is approached through niyama and śraddhā; form (upāsanā) disciplines mind toward sattva.
Application: When performing pūjā, prepare a clean seat and offerings for the chosen deity; use correct mantras and avoid mixing procedures carelessly.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: ritual pavilion/altar
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.8.1–1.8.3 (maṇḍala construction and worship procedure continues)
This verse highlights pavitra-ārohaṇa as a purification and formal consecration step in deity-worship, done specifically with each deity’s own mantra to ensure ritual correctness.
It does not directly discuss the soul’s post-death journey; instead, it focuses on correct devotional-ritual procedure, which the Purana treats as supportive of dharma and spiritual merit.
When doing any deity worship, prepare the seat and materials carefully and use deity-specific prayers/mantras rather than generic ones, keeping the intent and purity of the rite central.
