Śivapūjā-vidhi: Purifications, Sūrya–Graha Mantras, Nyāsa, and Bhūtaśuddhi leading to Śivoham-bhāva
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Mantra-nyāsa and kavaca-astra as sacral technologies for protection and legitimate consecration (dīkṣā) of rulers.
Vedantic Theme: Tejas as śakti of the Divine; ordered ritual (vidhi) as a means to align the individual with cosmic law (ṛta/dharma).
Application: Use prescribed bīja/vyāhṛti placements (heart, head, śikhā) and protective mantras before initiating or undertaking high-responsibility duties.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Type: ritual-space (maṇḍala/altar)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.23.12-15 (graha-mantras, nyāsa, bhūtaśuddhi, arghya-vidhi)
This verse frames specific bīja-syllables and divine utterances as “armor” (kavacha) and “weapon” (astram), indicating mantra as a protective and empowering ritual technology used during consecration and spiritual safeguarding.
Rather than describing the post-death journey directly, this verse emphasizes protective mantra-rites (nyāsa/kavacha) that strengthen purity, authority, and spiritual defense—foundational disciplines that the Garuda Purana elsewhere links to one’s karmic condition and destiny.
Use it as a reminder that disciplined prayer/mantra with ethical intent is meant to cultivate inner protection and steadiness; for formal practice, learn kavacha/nyāsa only through a qualified teacher and follow dharmic conduct as the primary “protection.”
