with Mantra Applications
Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda)
Dosha: Kapha
Concept: Purification and disciplined treatment of chronic disease; endurance and cleanliness as supportive virtues.
Vedantic Theme: Prakṛti’s guṇas as instruments—properly directed substances alleviate suffering; compassion expressed as practical instruction.
Application: Prepare an external paste of two rajanī (turmeric varieties) with a potent drug (viṣa) triturated in cow’s urine; apply with neem leaves—only with expert supervision due to toxicity risk.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.183-1.184 (skin-disease remedies cluster: sidhma/kuṣṭha)
This verse preserves a traditional therapeutic formula, showing that the Garuda Purana also transmits practical health-related instructions alongside its religious teachings.
It does not directly discuss the soul’s journey; it belongs to a practical section describing remedies, indicating the text’s wider scope beyond afterlife descriptions.
Treat it as a historical traditional remedy reference; for modern use, consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or medical professional before applying substances like gomūtra or ‘viṣa’.
