Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda)
Concept: Viveka (discernment) through recognizing āma-jvara lakṣaṇas before undertaking measures.
Vedantic Theme: Sharīra as upādhi: careful observation of the body supports steadiness of mind for higher pursuits.
Application: Track āma signs (salivation, nausea, anorexia, heaviness, frequent urination) and avoid premature strengthening measures until āma clears.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.147.8 (nirāma-jvara lakṣaṇa); Garuda Purana 1.147.9-11 (doṣaja jvara bheda-lakṣaṇa)
This verse treats āma as a diagnostic stage of fever, identified by nausea, loss of appetite, heaviness, and related signs—showing that the text also preserves practical Ayurvedic classification.
It does not address afterlife doctrine here; it focuses on bodily diagnostics (āma-jvara lakṣaṇa) within the Garuda Purana’s broader compendium of teachings.
Use it as a traditional checklist of early fever/āma indicators (nausea, appetite loss, heaviness) to prompt timely rest and appropriate dietary/medical guidance.
