Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda)
Concept: Bhakti expressed through vidhi—honor (arghya), repeated obeisance, and fire-worship as disciplined devotion.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-upāsanā leading to antaḥkaraṇa-śuddhi (purification of mind) through karma-yoga-like ritual offering.
Application: Perform worship with humility and procedural care: offer respectful water, bow sincerely, then complete agni-related worship exactly as prescribed.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: ritual-space (gṛha/mandira/vedi)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana (Brahma-khanda) ritual sequences around Viṣṇu-pūjā and homa (adjacent verses 1.12.7–1.12.10)
This verse highlights arghya as a key act of respectful reception and ritual satisfaction of the worshipped recipient, forming the proper beginning of a prescribed rite.
It does not directly describe the soul’s journey here; instead, it emphasizes correct ritual conduct (vidhi)—a recurring Garuda Purana theme for ensuring auspicious outcomes through dharmic observance.
Perform worship with reverence and procedural care: offer respectful hospitality (arghya), maintain humility (repeated pranama), and follow established ritual guidelines rather than improvising.
