Concept: Ritual purity and completeness of worship—fasting and proper offerings—support the efficacy of a vrata.
Vedantic Theme: Karma-kanda as chitta-shuddhi (purification of mind) preparing for higher knowledge/devotion.
Application: Observe a disciplined fast, offer sattvic items (curd, akshata, fruits, flowers), and present a carefully prepared, aesthetically complete offering as part of the vow.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: ritual-space (griha/mandira)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.119.4-6 (arghya-mantra, vessel preparation, dana and feeding); Garuda Purana 1.120.1 (transition to Rambha-tritiya vrata)
This verse links ritual efficacy with self-restraint: worship is to be performed along with upavāsa, indicating purification and focused intent as part of dharmic observance.
Indirectly: it emphasizes merit-generating rites (puja, offerings, disciplined vows) that the Garuda Purana commonly frames as supportive of auspicious outcomes and spiritual welfare.
Perform worship with sincerity and simplicity—offer traditional items like curd and akshata, add fruits/flowers, and observe a modest fast or restraint according to capacity and guidance.
