य एष षोडशकल: पुरुषो भगवान्मनोमयोऽन्नमयोऽमृतमयो देवपितृमनुष्यभूतपशुपक्षिसरीसृपवीरुधां प्राणाप्यायनशीलत्वात्सर्वमय इति वर्णयन्ति ॥ १० ॥
ya eṣa ṣoḍaśa-kalaḥ puruṣo bhagavān manomayo ’nnamayo ’mṛtamayo deva-pitṛ-manuṣya-bhūta-paśu-pakṣi-sarīsṛpa-vīrudhāṁ prāṇāpy āyana-śīlatvāt sarvamaya iti varṇayanti.
Mặt trăng, đầy đủ mười sáu phần (kala), biểu hiện ảnh hưởng của Bhagavān, Đấng Tối Thượng. Vì là vị thần chủ quản tâm ý nên gọi là Manomaya; vì ban sức mạnh cho thảo mộc và cây cỏ nên gọi là Annamaya; và vì là nguồn sống của mọi loài nên gọi là Amṛtamaya. Nó làm hài lòng chư thiên, pitā, loài người, thú vật, chim muông, loài bò sát, cây cối và muôn loài; vì thấm khắp tất cả nên cũng được gọi là Sarvamaya.
