This verse shows a distressed brāhmaṇa urgently seeking protection for his unborn/newborn child, highlighting the natural human dependence on higher protection and the social duty of guardians like Arjuna to defend the vulnerable.
In the narrative of Canto 10, Chapter 89, the brāhmaṇa’s children repeatedly died at birth, so when delivery approached again he appealed to Arjuna—famed as a protector—for immediate help against the recurring threat of death.
It encourages sincere, urgent prayer in crisis and reminds leaders, caregivers, and institutions of their duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves—especially children and families in vulnerable moments.
