Sudāmā Brāhmaṇa: Divine Friendship, Guru-bhakti, and the Lord’s Grace

स वै सत्कर्मणां साक्षाद् द्विजातेरिह सम्भव: । आद्योऽङ्ग यत्राश्रमिणां यथाहं ज्ञानदो गुरु: ॥ ३२ ॥

Transliteration

sa vai sat-karmaṇāṁ sākṣād dvijāter iha sambhavaḥ ādyo ’ṅga yatrāśramiṇāṁ yathāhaṁ jñāna-do guruḥ

Translation

Này bạn hiền, người ban cho ta thân xác là vị thầy đầu tiên; người làm lễ khai tâm (upanayana) để thành “hai lần sinh” và đặt ta vào bổn phận dharma là vị thầy trực tiếp. Nhưng vị thầy ban tri thức siêu việt cho người thuộc mọi āśrama mới là bậc thầy tối hậu—ngài ấy như chính Ta vậy.
