The Killing of Cāṇūra, Muṣṭika, and Kaṁsa; Liberation and Restoration of Dharma in Mathurā
धर्मव्यतिक्रमो ह्यस्य समाजस्य ध्रुवं भवेत् । यत्राधर्म: समुत्तिष्ठेन्न स्थेयं तत्र कर्हिचित् ॥ ९ ॥
dharma-vyatikramo hy asya samājasya dhruvaṁ bhavet yatrādharmaḥ samuttiṣṭhen na stheyaṁ tatra karhicit
Trong hội chúng này, chắc chắn đã có sự vi phạm chánh pháp. Nơi nào phi pháp đang dấy lên, không nên ở lại dù chỉ một khoảnh khắc.
This verse advises that when irreligion becomes prominent, one should not remain in such a place or association, because dharma will inevitably be violated there.
In the context of Kaṁsa’s arena and the oppressive atmosphere of his rule, Śukadeva highlights that a society tolerating adharma becomes a setting where dharma is inevitably transgressed.
Avoid environments and company that normalize unethical behavior; seek sādhus, satsanga, and places that support truthfulness, compassion, and devotion.
