Dakṣa’s Sacrifice Restored: Śiva’s Mercy and Nārāyaṇa’s Appearance
etad bhagavataḥ śambhoḥ karma dakṣādhvara-druhaḥ śrutaṁ bhāgavatāc chiṣyād uddhavān me bṛhaspateḥ
This verse closes the narration by stating that the account of Lord Śiva and the conflict around Dakṣa’s sacrifice was heard through the devotee lineage—Śukadeva heard it from Uddhava—and is being faithfully transmitted.
To establish the trustworthy transmission (paramparā) of the narration—Śukadeva indicates his source as Uddhava, who is connected to Bṛhaspati—showing the Bhagavatam is received through authorized hearing.
Approach spiritual knowledge through reliable teachers and sources, cultivate careful hearing, and avoid forming conclusions from partial or hostile accounts—especially in sensitive topics like offenses, worship, and inter-traditional respect.
