Aditi’s Payo-vrata and Viṣṇu’s Promise to Appear as Her Son
Prelude to Vāmana
sotthāya baddhāñjalir īḍituṁ sthitā notseha ānanda-jalākulekṣaṇā babhūva tūṣṇīṁ pulakākulākṛtis tad-darśanātyutsava-gātra-vepathuḥ
Aditi đứng dậy, chắp tay định dâng lời tán tụng, nhưng không đủ sức cầu nguyện; mắt bà ngập lệ hỷ lạc siêu việt. Được thấy Bhagavān đối diện, toàn thân bà nổi gai, lặng im, và run rẩy vì niềm hoan hỷ.
This verse describes classic bhakti symptoms—tears of joy, horripilation, trembling, and speechlessness—arising naturally when a devotee beholds the Lord.
Overwhelmed by bliss upon seeing the Lord, Aditi could not compose herself to speak; her devotion expressed itself through tears, trembling, and standing with folded hands.
Approach prayer with sincerity and humility; even when words fail, reverence—like folded hands, remembrance, and heartfelt emotion—can be genuine worship.
