Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
Thus end the Bhaktivedanta purports of the Eighth Canto, Sixteenth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Executing the Payo-vrata Process of Worship.”
This verse teaches that a vow (vrata) should be performed carefully and with śraddhā (faith), because the Lord becomes pleased by sincere devotion and then grants the desired blessings.
Aditi sought relief and divine help for the devas; Kaśyapa instructed her to observe the Payo-vrata, assuring her that Viṣṇu, when satisfied, would quickly bestow the needed boons.
Commit to a spiritual discipline with consistency and faith—daily worship, japa, fasting or a simple vow—focusing on sincerity rather than display, trusting that divine grace follows genuine effort.
