It lists core yogic disciplines: svādhyāya (scriptural self-study), īśvara-pūjā (devotional worship), āsana (e.g., padmāsana), prāṇāyāma (regulated breathing as vāyu-jaya), and pratyāhāra (sense-withdrawal leading to self-restraint).
By cataloging practical yoga components alongside devotional practice, it shows the text’s wide scope—integrating ritual devotion (pūjā) with technical yogic methods (āsana, prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra) as part of its multi-disciplinary, instructional character.
These practices purify conduct and attention—devotion aligns intention, breath mastery steadies the mind, and pratyāhāra curbs sense-driven karma—supporting inner discipline and progress toward meditative absorption.
