इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे पुरुवंशवर्णनं नाम सप्तसप्तत्यधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः अथाष्टसप्तत्यधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः सिद्धौषधानि अग्निर् उवाच आयुर्वेदं प्रवक्ष्यामि सुश्रुताय यमब्रवीत् देवो धन्वन्तरिः सारं मृतसञ्जीवनीकरं

ity āgneye mahāpurāṇe puruvaṃśavarṇanaṃ nāma saptasaptatyadhikadviśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ athāṣṭasaptatyadhikadviśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ siddhauṣadhāni agnir uvāca āyurvedaṃ pravakṣyāmi suśrutāya yamabravīt devo dhanvantariḥ sāraṃ mṛtasañjīvanīkaraṃ

Như vậy, trong Agni Mahāpurāṇa kết thúc chương thứ 277, mang tên “Mô tả dòng dõi Puru.” Nay bắt đầu chương thứ 278: “Dược pháp Siddha.” Agni nói: “Ta sẽ giảng về Āyurveda—chính giáo pháp mà Yama đã truyền cho Suśruta—tức tinh yếu do thần Dhanvantari khai thị, là cốt tủy ‘mṛtasañjīvanī’, tinh chất có năng lực phục sinh.”
