Related Themes: Agni Purana 259 (vaśīkaraṇa/jaya-mantra section)
It teaches a specific mantra-prayoga: japa of a formula invoking Agni and Pṛthivī, with the utterance “adhvane,” intended for vaśīkaraṇa (bringing others/situations under control) and for attaining victory in vyavahāra (practical dealings, disputes, transactions).
Beyond mythology, the Agni Purana preserves applied ritual technology—mantra use for concrete aims such as success in social and legal-economic interactions (vyavahāra). This breadth—spanning devotion, ritual, and pragmatic instruction—illustrates its encyclopedic scope.
As a japa-based discipline, it emphasizes focused speech and intention (vāk and saṅkalpa) through sacred sound; ethically framed, it is understood as seeking dharmic success and protection in worldly affairs via sanctioned ritual means.
