Lord Agni (as narrator of ritual/tantric applications, addressed within the Agni Purana’s instructional dialogue)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Abhicāra/pravartana-style prayoga using Dūtī-mantra with specific loci (doorway, solitary tree, cremation ground) and a ‘floating’ sesame-ghee homa variant to obtain sarvakāma-siddhi and royal dominion.","sutra_style":false}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Commentary","entry_title":"Dūtī-mantra prayoga: plava-homa variants and locus rules (dvāra, eka-vṛkṣa, śmaśāna) for sarvakāma-siddhi","lookup_keywords":["dūtī-mantra","plava-homa","tila-ājya","eka-vṛkṣa","śmaśāna"],"quick_summary":"The verse preserves recension-variants about a ‘floating offering’ (plava) homa with sesame and ghee. It then states that applying the Dūtī-mantra at liminal/charged locations (threshold, solitary tree, cremation ground) yields all desired attainments, even sovereignty."}

Concept: Mantra-phala is conditioned by deśa-kāla-pātra: specific sites and materials are treated as amplifiers of intention in tantric praxis.

Application: When following such prayogas, prioritize exact locus-selection and dravya specification; note recension differences (tila-ājya-plava vs plava) and follow one consistent paddhati under guidance.

Khanda Section: Mantra-tantra & Abhichara-prayoga (Dūtī-mantra, homa-sādhana, sarvakāma-siddhi)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka

Type: Sacred-space (liminal/charged loci)

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A tantric practitioner performing a sesame-and-ghee ‘floating offering’ homa; scenes shift between a doorway rite, a solitary tree at night, and a cremation ground—aimed at sarvakāma-siddhi and royal conquest symbolism (map/earth-globe, throne).","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, triptych composition: (1) doorway ritual with lamps, (2) lone tree under night sky with mantra-japa, (3) śmaśāna with controlled sacred fire and distant pyre motifs, intense reds and blacks, stylized flames and protective yantra patterns.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, central siddhi-fire with gold-highlighted flames and vessels, side panels showing doorway and solitary tree, cremation ground hinted symbolically, regal motif of king receiving earth-dominion, ornate gold work.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style, technical depiction of plava-homa (floating offering) apparatus/gesture, clear site markers (threshold line, single tree, śmaśāna boundary), restrained palette, instructional clarity.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, narrative sequence across panels: doorway rite in a palace corridor, solitary tree in a moonlit garden edge, cremation ground outside city walls with subtle realism, concluding with king on throne signifying dominion."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"contemplative","suggested_raga":"Shree","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"instructional"}

FAQs

It teaches a specific mantra-prayoga: performing a homa using sesame and ghee (with a ‘floating/rafted’ offering per variant readings) and applying the Dūtī-mantra at liminal or power-charged sites (doorway/threshold, solitary tree, cremation ground) to obtain sarva-kāma-siddhi.

Alongside dharma and mythology, the Agni Purana catalogs practical ritual technologies—mantra, homa-procedure, site-selection, and promised results—showing its wide scope as a compendium of applied religious and tantric knowledge.

The verse frames mantra-homa performed at liminal/śmaśāna settings as a high-intensity sādhana aimed at swift fruition (siddhi), promising comprehensive worldly success (including royal dominion), while implying that such potency depends on correct method and mantra-application.
