FAQs

It gives an Ashva-chikitsa (veterinary Ayurveda) instruction: administer a cough-relieving feed bolus to horses and provide a strengthening drink prepared with priyaṅgu, lodhra, and honey.

Beyond theology, the Agni Purana preserves practical applied sciences—here, veterinary pharmacology for horses—showing its wide coverage of healthcare, materia medica, and animal management.

While primarily medical, caring for dependent beings (such as horses used in travel and duty) aligns with dharma; preserving life and reducing suffering is treated as meritorious conduct in the broader puranic ethic.
