FAQs

It teaches an Ayurvedic formulation and procedure: prepare a medicated oil using lāṅgalī paste and nirguṇḍī juice, and administer it via nasya (nasal instillation) to treat cervical gland disorders such as gaṇḍamālā and galagaṇḍa.

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied medical knowledge—specific drugs (lāṅgalī, nirguṇḍī), pharmaceutical processing (sādhita taila), and a clinical route of administration (nasya)—showing its wide-ranging, practical compendium character.

In Purāṇic framing, healing therapies are part of dharmic self-care: restoring bodily balance supports purity, steadiness in worship and duties, and the maintenance of health as an aid to righteous living rather than as a separate spiritual rite.
