Lord Agni (traditional Agni Purana narrator) addressing a brāhmaṇa interlocutor

Related Themes: Agni Purana 279 (doṣa-kāla; ṛtucaryā; chikitsā hints)
Ayurvedic regimen-knowledge: doṣa-pacification (śamana) after aggravation (prakopa) is managed through dietary extremes—therapeutic feeding (atibhojana in specific contexts) and therapeutic abstinence/fasting (abhojana).
It demonstrates the Agni Purana’s inclusion of practical Ayurveda—dietetic management of bodily humors—alongside its ritual, dharma, and other technical topics, reflecting its multi-disciplinary, encyclopedic scope.
By prescribing disciplined control of eating, the verse frames bodily regulation as a purificatory practice—supporting clarity, restraint, and balance, which are traditionally linked with reduced karmic disturbance and steadier spiritual practice.
