अलभ्यमानस्तनयः पितरौ क्लेशयेच्चिरम् । लब्धो हि गर्भपातेन प्रसवेन च बाधते ॥२४॥

Padapatha (Word Split)

अलभ्यमानः । तनयः । पितरौ । क्लेशयेत् । चिरम् । लब्धः । हि । गर्भ-पातेन । प्रसवेन । च । बाधते ।

IAST Transliteration

alabhyamānas tanayaḥ pitarau kleśayec ciram | labdho hi garbhapātena prasavena ca bādhate ||24||

Translation

بیٹا اگر حاصل نہ ہو تو والدین کو دیر تک رنج میں مبتلا رکھتا ہے؛ اور اگر حاصل ہو بھی جائے تو حمل کے ساقط ہونے اور ولادت کے درد و مشقت کے ذریعے بھی انہیں ستاتا ہے۔

Academic Translation

A son, when not obtained, would afflict the parents for a long time; and when obtained, indeed, he troubles (them) through miscarriage and through childbirth as well.
