ya eṣa kriyate yajñastasya nātho hariḥ smṛtaḥ | etasmātkāraṇātproktaḥ sa devo yajñapūruṣaḥ
Maheśvara (Śiva)
Listener: Devas/ṛṣis (implied)
Scene: Teaching tableau: the concept of Yajñapuruṣa is proclaimed—Hari envisioned as the indwelling Person presiding over the sacrificial fire and offerings.
All yajña is ultimately anchored in the Divine; Hari is revered as the presiding Lord of sacrifice (Yajñapuruṣa).
The verse is theological within a tīrtha-māhātmya chapter; it does not name a particular site.
It establishes the correct deity-concept for ritual: recognize Hari as the Yajñapuruṣa presiding over yajña.
