ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | pārvatyādhikṛtaṃ sarvaṃ madanānayanaṃ prati | saṃbareṇa hṛtātanvī madanasya priyā satī | ata ūrdhvaṃ tadā sūta kiṃ jātaṃ tatra varṇyatām
Ṛṣis (Sages)
Tirtha: Kedāra-kṣetra (contextual frame)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Sūta
Scene: A forest-āśrama assembly: sages seated in a semicircle, addressing Sūta with raised hands in respectful inquiry; the topic is Pārvatī’s efforts, Madana’s beloved abducted by Śaṃbara, and the suspense of what follows.
Sacred narration proceeds through inquiry and attentive listening; dharma is preserved by asking and transmitting what follows in the divine story.
The Kedāra sacred region frames the discourse (Kedārakhaṇḍa), though the verse is primarily a narrative prompt.
None; it is a question requesting continuation of the account.
