शिवपुराण-प्रशंसा (Praise of the Śiva Purāṇa) / Śivapurāṇa Māhātmya
न नाशयति यत्पापं सा रौद्री संहिता द्विजाः । तन्न पश्याम्यहं लोके मार्गमाणोऽपि सर्वदा
na nāśayati yatpāpaṃ sā raudrī saṃhitā dvijāḥ | tanna paśyāmyahaṃ loke mārgamāṇo'pi sarvadā
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it is a sweeping claim of the Raudrī-saṃhitā’s universal pāpa-nāśakatva, echoing the Purāṇic idea that Rudra’s revelation functions as a supreme prāyaścitta.
Significance: Assures devotees that no sin is beyond destruction through engagement with the Raudrī-saṃhitā—supporting hope, repentance, and renewed dharmic life under Śiva’s grace.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: destructive
The verse proclaims the unrivaled purifying power of Rudra-centered revelation: by hearing, reciting, and contemplating Shiva’s glory, pāpa is dissolved and the seeker becomes fit for Shiva’s grace (anugraha), which leads toward liberation.
By praising a Raudrī (Rudra-focused) Saṁhitā as sin-destroying, the text supports Saguna Shiva worship—approaching Shiva through his names, forms, and sacred narratives—culminating in steadiness of devotion that naturally turns toward Linga-upāsanā and surrender to Shiva as Pati.
A direct takeaway is śravaṇa and pāṭha (listening/recitation) of Shiva Purana with bhakti; it may be paired with japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as a practical daily discipline for purification.
