Description of the Nineteen Manifestations/Avatāras of Śiva
तत्रापि मम ते शिष्या भविष्यन्ति तपस्विनः । उलूको विद्युतश्चैव शम्बूको ह्याश्वलायनः
tatrāpi mama te śiṣyā bhaviṣyanti tapasvinaḥ | ulūko vidyutaścaiva śambūko hyāśvalāyanaḥ
وہاں بھی وہ تپسوی میرے شاگرد ہوں گے—اُلُوک، وِدیوت، شَمبوک اور آشولاین۔
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: No Jyotirliṅga linkage; continues the Bhadravaṭa/Sahiṣṇu cycle by naming disciples who will gather around Śiva’s manifestation.
Significance: Reinforces the Siddhānta idea that grace operates through community and disciplined discipleship (tapasvin-saṅgha) around the Lord-as-Guru.
Cosmic Event: Age-cycle forecasting (continuation of 26th cycle narrative)
The verse highlights Shiva as the supreme Guru (Pati) who draws sincere tapasvins into His fold; discipleship here signifies receiving Shiva’s grace that ripens austerity into liberation-oriented devotion.
By naming devotees who become Shiva’s disciples, the text emphasizes Saguna Shiva’s accessible, personal guidance—often approached through Linga-worship, mantra, and disciplined practice under divine or guru-led instruction.
The direct suggestion is tapas (austerity) leading to discipleship; in Shaiva practice this aligns with steady japa of Shiva-mantra (notably the Panchakshara), meditation on Shiva, and disciplined vows that make one fit for Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
