Sunartaka-Naṭa Avatāra and Pārvatī’s Boon-Request (Śiva as the Testing Benefactor)
अस्मै देया स्वकन्येयं पार्वती सुतप स्विनी । एवं विचार्य च तयोः शिवेभक्तिरभूत्परा
asmai deyā svakanyeyaṃ pārvatī sutapa svinī | evaṃ vicārya ca tayoḥ śivebhaktirabhūtparā
‘ہماری یہی بیٹی—مہاتپسوی پاروتی—اسی کو دینی چاہیے۔’ یوں غور و فکر کے بعد اُن دونوں کے دلوں میں بھگوان شِو کے لیے اعلیٰ ترین بھکتی جاگ اٹھی۔

It teaches that when one’s discernment aligns with dharma and the divine will, the heart naturally turns to parā-bhakti—supreme devotion to Pati (Śiva), the liberator of bound souls (paśu).
The verse highlights a turn toward personal devotion to Śiva (Saguna Śiva), which in practice is commonly expressed through Linga-worship—seeing Śiva as the gracious Lord who accepts devotion and grants spiritual uplift.
The takeaway is cultivation of bhakti through daily Śiva-smaraṇa and japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—supported by simple Śiva-pūjā (e.g., offering water) as devotion deepens.
