Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Frames Śiva-carita as pāpa-nāśaka and maṅgala-prada: hearing/reciting it is treated as a purificatory pilgrimage-in-itself, conferring auspiciousness and moral-spiritual uplift.
It presents śravaṇa (devout hearing) of Śiva’s sacred deeds as a direct purifier: the narrative itself is said to burn even heavy sins and generate maṅgala, aligning the listener toward Śiva-bhakti and liberation.
By praising Śiva’s carita (divine deeds), the verse supports Saguna devotion—approaching Śiva through His compassionate, accessible manifestations and stories, which traditionally culminate in reverence for Śiva’s presence as the Liṅga.
Regular kathā-śravaṇa (listening/recitation) of the Shiva Purana with devotion—often paired with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and simple worship (lamp, water, bilva) to cultivate auspiciousness.
