Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic narrator concluding the chapter while addressing the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
This is a colophon marking the closure of a chapter and its theme—Dakṣa’s yajña beginning—highlighting a Shaiva Siddhānta lesson: ritual (karma) without reverence for Pati (Śiva) becomes spiritually incomplete and can turn into bondage through ego.
By framing the narrative of Dakṣa’s sacrifice, it points to the Purāṇic contrast between external sacrificial display and true devotion to Saguna Śiva (often approached through Liṅga worship). The story contextually underscores honoring Śiva as the supreme Lord within all rites.
The takeaway is to sanctify all rituals with Śiva-bhakti—begin worship with remembrance of Śiva and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), maintaining humility so that rites become a means toward grace rather than pride.
