सती-शिवचरित्रप्रसङ्गः / The Account of Satī and Śiva’s Divine Conduct
Prelude to Detailed Narrative
ततः किमभवत्तत्र किमकार्षीन्महेश्वरः । तत्सर्वं मे समाचक्ष्व श्रद्धायुक् तच्छुतावहम्
tataḥ kimabhavattatra kimakārṣīnmaheśvaraḥ | tatsarvaṃ me samācakṣva śraddhāyuk tacchutāvaham
پھر وہاں کیا ہوا، اور مہیشور نے کیا کیا؟ وہ سب مجھے تفصیل سے بتاؤ؛ میں عقیدت سے بھرپور ہوں اور اسے سننے کا مشتاق ہوں۔
A listener (disciple-like inquirer) addressing the narrator within the Satīkhaṇḍa dialogue (contextually a devotee asking for the next events about Śiva).
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights śraddhā (faith) and śravaṇa (devout listening) as a primary doorway to grace—seeking Śiva’s actions with reverence is itself a purifying Shaiva practice.
The verse approaches Śiva as Maheśvara—Saguna, knowable through divine deeds (līlā). In the Purāṇic mode, hearing such līlās supports loving worship that naturally culminates in Linga-devotion.
Śiva-kathā-śravaṇa (listening to Shiva’s sacred narrative) with śraddhā—ideally accompanied by mantra-japa such as “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and a focused, receptive mind.
