Satī’s Address to Śiva
शिखसारंगयोर्दृष्ट्वा मित्रादपि पराभवम् । हर्षं गच्छंति गिरिशं विदूरमपि मानसम्
śikhasāraṃgayordṛṣṭvā mitrādapi parābhavam | harṣaṃ gacchaṃti giriśaṃ vidūramapi mānasam

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse highlights Śiva’s inward assent/joy (mānasa-harṣa) at events unfolding around Satī and His gaṇas/allies.
Significance: General teaching: the Lord’s grace operates even when He appears ‘distant’; remembrance of Śiva (smaraṇa) is itself auspicious.
The verse highlights that outcomes in the world—even conflicts among allies—ultimately unfold under Śiva’s higher will; the devotee is invited to trust the inner governance (antaryāmitva) of Giriśa, who remains inwardly aware and responsive even when seemingly distant.
By naming Śiva as Giriśa and describing His inward delight, the verse supports Saguna devotion: the Lord is a personal, responsive deity. Linga-worship trains the mind to perceive this ever-present Śiva, who may be unseen externally yet present within and around all events.
A practical takeaway is inward remembrance (smaraṇa) of Śiva during changing circumstances—mentally repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and offering the results to Him—cultivating steady bhakti whether the Lord seems near or far.
